Rehabilitation

Iso Fit has recently added an experienced Physiotherapist, trained in the Polestar® International Pilates Rehabilitation and Fitness method, to the instructor team.

Polestar Education LLC., established by Brent Anderson Phd. in 1992 designed  a comprehensive and leading edge Pilates instructor training course based on the teachings of Joseph Pilates and modern medical research. This knowledge is applied in Iso Fit by an experienced physiotherapist for the treatment and rehabilitation of clients.

Pilates rehabilitation programmes produce excellent results across a wide spectrum of patients. Functional, efficient movement and enhanced performance are achieved as well as:

  • Improved flexibility
  • Increased core strength and stability
  • Improvement of postural problems
  • Enhanced functional fitness,
  • Improved balance, coordination and circulation
  • Heightened body awareness

Pilates is an effective method of movement re-education and rehabilitation and can be beneficial at all stages of an injury or for chronic conditions:

  • In the early stages of injury, stabilization and disassociation can be achieved to allow effective pain control of the injured site and maintain movement of the surrounding joints and tissues.
  • Reintroducing movement with nondestructive forces to the injured site early in the rehabilitation process can hasten the healing process. The specialized equipment enables the therapist to provide adequate assistance and feedback for an optimal motor learning environment.
  • Dynamic stabilization and proprioceptive training challenges newly acquired mobility or stability in a functional environment allowing specificity training and achievement of recreational goals.

Specifically, Pilates-based rehabilitation can benefit injuries and disorders such as:

  • Post operative rehabilitation of spinal and peripheral pathologies
  • Chronic neck and back pain
  •
    Total knee/hip replacement
  • Sciatica
  • Shoulder
    impingement/tendonitis
  • Hip bursitis
  • Ankle injuries
  • Scoliosis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Spondylolisthesis
  • Stenosis
  • Whiplash
