Lorna was introduced to clinical Pilates as part of a rehabilitation program for a serious injury and was so impressed with the effectiveness of the method she decided to pursue a Pilates Certification. She wished to help others attain a greater understanding of their bodies and manage their pain symptoms, as she herself had been helped. She was trained by Annemarie Munk and received a Body Arts & Sciences (BASI) Comprehensive Instructor Certification in 2004. In 2006 she completed GYROTONIC® Level 1 Foundation training with Dawnna Wayburne and was later certified by Deborah Rose. She attended GYROTONIC® Level 2 training under the guidance of Juliu Horvath, founder of the method, in 2010. Lorna looks forward to completing GYROKINESIS® training in 2015. She continually updates her skills by attending workshops and courses both locally and abroad.
Lorna feels blessed to be doing what she truly loves every day and is just as passionate a student as teacher. Her own explorations into somatic awareness and movement therapy continue to add layers to her understanding of the body in motion and inform her approach to working with clients, allowing her to design an appropriate exercise program for everyone that educates the system to move with intelligence.
Lorna's deep interest in movement lies in the interface between the physical, emotional, and energetic planes where movement is a form of moving meditation and the benefits are more than simply physical. She believes exercise should be a playful and fun experience that achieves results for the body while elevating the mind and the spirit. When not sharing her passion for movement with clients at Isofit, Lorna is often found spending time with her cats and dog, riding horses, appreciating the beauty of nature, or enjoying her own practice of GYROKINESIS® & GYROTONIC® exercise and Kundalini Yoga.
