Sandar is a pole and aerial fitness addict. Originally from the UK, she first discovered Pilates in 2013 by going to group sessions with her other half, who was recommended Pilates for his shoulder and back pain. Sandar soon realized that practicing Pilates was not only good for other half’s shoulder and back pain, but also helped her to build strong and flexible muscles and body awareness for injury prevention in her hobby of pole fitness and other aerial arts. Curiosity about this exercise form as not only for rehab but also as an exercise system for injury prevention led her to do the VTCT Pilates mat qualification training in London to initially get a better understanding of this method, never intending to actually teach at first. However, encouragement by one of the examiners after passing her exams in December 2017 she initially started teaching a few cover classes and found she had a passion in teaching Pilates and wanted to continue to share the Pilates love. In the UK she taught mat group Pilates classes, pre and post-natal Pilates based group fitness classes (after obtaining her VTCT Award for designing Physical Activity Programmes for Ante-Natal and Post-natal clients in March 2018) and mat Pilates based personal training in London before moving to Hong Kong in September 2018.
Always wanting to expand her experience and knowledge of Pilates, Sandar continued to further into mobility and movement. While in Hong Kong she qualified as a Polestar Pilates certified Studio Comprehensive instructor in January 2020, an Xpert Pole Fitness Instructor in May 2019 and took on a certification for Functional Range Conditioning in November 2020. As well as continuing to teach Pilates in Hong Kong, including Pilates specifically for Pole fitness, she also fulfilled a Pole fitness dream of, not only entering, but also placing second, in her first Pole Sports competition in Taiwan.
Sandar’s aim is to help people achieve their fitness goals and move better and longer with Pilates.
